What to Do After an eBay Account Suspension

The first hour after an eBay suspension notice is the one where sellers make the most avoidable mistakes — submitting a rushed appeal with no real evidence, sending eBay support the same message five times, or making changes to the account that complicate the review. None of that speeds anything up, and some of it makes things worse.

The more useful first response is slower and more ordered: read the actual notice fully, work out what it's really asking for, gather what genuinely supports the account, and only then respond. eBay's notices reference specific policies and codes (MC011, MC999, and others) — the exact wording in your account is the only reliable source for what's actually being asked, not general forum advice or a generic template.

Checklist

Read the full notice in Seller Hub or your Messages — not just the subject line or email preview
Note the specific code or policy referenced, and any deadline given
Screenshot or save the notice before doing anything else
Check whether funds are held, and where (Managed Payments, PayPal, or another method)
List what documentation you actually have available — invoices, supplier records, ID, business registration
Avoid submitting a response until you've matched what you have against what's actually being asked for
Avoid creating a new account — this typically compounds the problem rather than solving it
